Western Yarrow (Achillea millefolium var. occidentalis)
Western Yarrow is a powerful pioneer plant, lawn substitute, and pollinator power. It is a fantastic plant for remediation of polluted lands. It will grow in any situation except full shade or fully saturated soils. Yarrow is one of the few wildflowers that can handle mowing & foot traffic on a fairly regular basis while staying green through out the summer with little irrigation making it a fantastic lawn substitute! It has powerful rhizomes allowing it to both spread out and resist weed competition (perfect for lawn replacement and erosion control). It's deer and rabbit resistant, attractive to pollinators, and is a great cut flower for bouquets! Yarrow was historically used as an agricultural cover crop as well! It is a fantastic choice for difficult to fill locations, sun baked corners, or parking strips where a plant and forget option is needed. As payback for your neglect, Yarrow will give you flowers! It tends to bloom non stop from April until late October (sometimes even till January). And, it will bring all of the good bugs! Yarrow is very attractive to predatory insects (natural pesticide) and pollinators! For this reason it is an excellent companion plant to plant near your veggie garden. In addition, Yarrow also has a lot of beneficial properties that make it an excellent herb to add to your oil infusions for salves!
Each seed packet contains 100 seeds and germination instructions are included.
