Sea Thrift (Armeria maritima)
Sea Thrift plants are adorable, with their short grass clump appearance and their pink puff ball flowers! Such a cute ground cover! Sea Thrift can be found growing west of the Cascades, commonly along coastal seashores, rocky bluffs, and in well draining clay soil. This adaptation makes Sea Thrift a great choice for rock gardens, xeriscaping, or any well draining sunny location. Sea Thrift is very salt tolerant and deer resistant! They are accustomed to receiving light moisture from ocean spray and will benefit from occasional watering in gardens east of the Coast Range. Further inland, in more arid climates they will require regular irrigation. Sea Thrift does go Summer dormant when very drought stressed, and will wake and grow again with the fall rain. In my NW Oregon garden Sea Thrift tends to be evergreen through the Winter months, staying green even through heavy frost, snow, and even icy weather!
Each packet contains 75 seeds and germination instructions are included.
