Douglas Meadowfoam (Limnanthes douglasii)
Douglas Meadowfoam is an absolute darling in the garden! This lovely little native annual will create a lush bright carpet of flowers and lacy little leaves. It stays very short; growing no more than 8 inches tall and 6-12 inches wide. Also known as the Poached Egg Plant (such an inelegant name!), this beauty starts blooming in mid-March and can continue to flower till July.
Douglas Meadowfoam is usually found growing around vernal pools with Camas, Seablush, Fragrant Popcorn, Yellow Monkeyflower, Shooting Stars, etc
It thrives in poorly draining clay; places where Winter and Spring rains linger as standing water or remain soggy, which become bone dry in the PNW summer heat. If left alone, this plant will happily self sow for a repeat appearance the following year. It's height and tendency to form dense mats make it a great ground cover and lawn replacement plant!
Each packet contains 100 seeds and germination instructions are included.
